For years, we’ve been told that growth would bring better roads, more amenities, and less strain on families. Too often, the reality has been traffic, crowded services, and shifting costs onto residents. I hear your frustration—because I feel it too. Here’s how we change the playbook.
What’s broken—and how we fix it
Residents were promised responsible growth. Instead, we’ve seen approvals move faster than roads, public safety, and parks can keep up. It’s not anti-growth to say: growth must be planned, funded, and delivered the right way.
- Concurrency: Big projects shouldn’t move forward until core capacity—roads, water, public safety—exists or is guaranteed with enforceable timelines.
- Accountability: Development agreements must include clear milestones, performance bonds, and public reporting so promises turn into results.
- Fairness: Residents shouldn’t subsidize new growth through surprise fees or strained services. Growth should pay its way.
Plain truth: When infrastructure lags behind approvals, everyone pays—with time lost in traffic, slower emergency response, and higher costs down the line. We deserve a council that sequences growth responsibly.
My commitment: Tie approvals to deliverables, not wish lists. If it’s not funded and scheduled, it’s not “done.”
Four pillars for smart development
A practical, measurable plan focused on outcomes—not buzzwords.
Build Infrastructure First
Adopt concurrency rules so roads, water, and public safety capacity are in place (or bonded) before major approvals. Use phased build-outs with checkpoints.
Growth Pays Its Way
Align impact fees and financing tools with true lifecycle costs. No shifting long-term obligations onto families without full transparency and public input.
Neighborhood Character & Balance
Encourage a healthy mix of housing, protect open space and trail connectivity, and require early delivery of parks and community amenities.
Transparent Dashboard & Public Voice
Publish a quarterly “Promises vs. Delivered” scorecard. Hold regular town halls and require neighborhood impact statements for large projects.
Day-1 deliverables I’ll champion
- Accountability Ordinance: Tie approvals to infrastructure milestones with enforceable performance bonds and automatic consequence clauses.
- Development Agreement Audit: Review existing agreements; bring forward amendments to align timelines, fees, and community benefits with current realities.
- Public Growth Dashboard: Launch an online, plain-English tracker showing what was promised, what’s funded, and what’s delivered.
- Design & Amenity Standards: Update standards to sequence parks, trails, and traffic improvements into earlier phases—not last.
Questions I hear most
Not at all. Smart development supports families and businesses because it sequences growth with the infrastructure that growth requires. It’s pro-community and pro-predictability.
When growth pays its true costs up front and promises are enforced, we reduce surprise burdens on residents. Transparency and accountability protect taxpayers over the long term.
Through quarterly town halls, neighborhood impact statements on major projects, and a public growth dashboard. Your feedback will directly inform sequencing and phasing decisions.
If you’re ready for growth that keeps its promises, I’m asking for your vote.
I’m running to put residents first, deliver infrastructure before rooftops, and make sure growth pays its way. If this plan reflects your values, add your name and help spread the word.
